A Kurd won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics

Aryan Salimi, a Kurdish athlete from Eastern Kurdistan, managed to win the gold medal and first place in the 80 kg weight class in Taekwondo.
In the final match, Salimi competed against British athlete Cayden Cunningham and performed excellently. The Kurdish athlete won 2-1 and was able to secure first place in the competition and the gold.
Aryan Salimi, a Kurdish athlete from Eastern Kurdistan, is 20 years old and was born in Kermanshah. Previously in 2024, he won first place and a gold medal in the 87 kg weight class at the Asian Championships. In the World Championships in Baku in 2023, he managed to secure third place and a bronze medal.
