“My Account” project targets one million registrations by 2024

The “My Account” project has registered 600,000 accounts so far, enhancing financial inclusion, modernizing banking services, and transparency in the Kurdistan Region.

The “My Account” project service center, accessible via hotline number 1991, is committed to continuously addressing inquiries about project participation while providing essential information to participants. This initiative is a significant step toward modernizing the banking landscape in the Kurdistan Region.

On December 4, 2024, the “My Account” page on Facebook published a series of questions raised by citizens about the project, along with comprehensive answers and relevant information. The project states, “All the information is included in that post, and you can take it into your own hands and answer all your questions.” Citizens are encouraged to reach out to the “My Account” service center via the hotline for any inquiries or concerns.

As of September 3, 2024, the project has reported an impressive milestone: in less than a year, 600,000 beneficiaries from Sulaimani, Erbil, and Duhok have registered. Over 250 cash withdrawal points have been established throughout the Kurdistan Region, facilitating easier access to funds for the public.

The project’s ambitious goal is to ensure that by the end of this year, a total of one million people will have their own bank accounts, with nearly 1,000 cash withdrawal points accessible across various regions. This initiative is a cornerstone of the strategic plans set forth by the ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), focusing on modernizing wage distribution, enhancing the public financial sector, and receiving endorsement from the Iraqi Central Bank.

“My Account” is a pioneering initiative aimed at digitizing payment processes and advancing banking services for over one million beneficiaries, including security personnel and government employees in the Kurdistan Region. This effort not only enhances the efficiency of government operations but also fosters greater transparency in financial transactions. As the project unfolds, it holds the promise of transforming the economic landscape of the region.
