Honoring Yazidi culture: The Lalish festival’s annual celebration

The Lalish Festival, a key cultural event in the Kurdistan Region, is held annually to celebrate and showcase the vibrant Yazidi culture and folklore. This year, the festival took place at the University of Duhok, offering a unique opportunity to promote and preserve the rich heritage of the Yazidi community. The festival features a variety of activities, including music, dance, art exhibitions, and traditional ceremonies, all designed to highlight the depth and beauty of Yazidi traditions.

The event is primarily supported by the Lalish Cultural Center, an organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Yazidi culture. Backed by Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, the Center plays an essential role in supporting the Yazidi community’s cultural initiatives. With 38 branches and over 1,000 members, the Lalish Cultural Center continues to make significant contributions to the cultural landscape of the region, ensuring that the legacy of the Yazidis is passed on to future generations.
