KRG delegation to investigate fate of Halabja’s missing children

A KRG delegation will meet Iraqi officials and the Iranian ambassador in Baghdad to investigatethe unresolved cases of missing children from Halabja, with 201 still unaccounted for

A delegation of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) will meet with Iraqi authorities and the Iranian ambassador to Baghdad to investigate the fate of missing children in Halabja.

According to statistics from the Board to Decide the Fate of Missing Children, only 10 out of 211 missing children from Halabja have been reunited with their families. Several other cases are currently under examination.

Dilsoz Jalal, Secretary of the Board for Decide the Fate of Missing Children in the Ministry of Martyrs and Anfal Victims, says: “The special board for Halabja’s missing children, headed by the Minister of Martyrs and Anfal Victims, will go to Baghdad. The board consists of representatives from the Ministries of Justice, Interior, Health, Labor and Social Affairs, and the Department of Foreign Relations of the Kurdistan Regional Government.”

“The purpose of the visit is to meet with relevant ministries of the Iraqi federal government, and the Iranian ambassador in Baghdad will also participate. We want to expedite the investigation of these missing children’s cases due to the large number of unresolved cases,” Jalal added.
