New international routes take off from Erbil airport

Director of Erbil Airport: The number of our international flights has increased to 82 per day, and we are operating more tourist

Flights to Erbil have increased dramatically, according to Ahmed Hoshyar, General Director of Erbil International Airport. There are now direct flights from two additional countries.
“On the 14th of July, we began the first direct flight between Erbil and Tunisia,” Hoshyar told Kurdish Globe. “Before Tunisia, Erbil and London had direct flights again, and they are currently operating.”
Hoshyar also stated, “London flights are on Fridays, and Tunisia flights are twice a week. This is very important for Erbil International Airport and expands the scope of Erbil Airport’s flights.”
Erbil International Airport opened in 2003, with local, Iraqi, and American officials in attendance. The airport had been converted from a military to a civilian one. Previously used as a military airport to bomb villages and rural areas of the Kurdistan Region, the airport’s opening was a significant milestone for the region and demonstrated to the outside world that we are a civilized society.
He added, “That airport was military at the time, and villages and rural areas of the Kurdistan Region were bombed from it. Now it’s a civilian airport, and we send peace flights to countries around the world. Erbil Airport is one of the symbols of the Kurdistan Region and reflects the civil and civilized governance of the region in terms of commerce and tourism.”
Hoshyar also said, “We have shown the world that we are a civilized society. We now have flights to most European countries and are constantly opening new routes. Currently, we have 82 daily flights, and our tourist flights are increasing.”
According to follow-ups, Erbil International Airport is one of the best and most robust airports meeting international standards. It has become a reliable location for global tourists and has a great reputation for technology, security inspections, and international protocols. In addition to routine daily flights, Erbil International Airport handles diplomatic flights and international leaders’ movements.
