One of the primary causes of this situation is the prevailing mindset among a significant portion of the Iraqi authorities, who have been influenced by dictatorial and chauvinistic ideologies. These authorities often disregard fundamental principles of humanity and coexistence.
Furthermore, the Iraqi government has neglected the implementation of Article 140 of the Constitution, which mandates the restoration of confiscated lands to their rightful Kurdish owners. This failure has exacerbated tensions and contributed to the ongoing crisis.
Additionally, foreign interventions have played a detrimental role in these matters, further complicating the situation. Moreover, several political blocs reject the principles of partnership and consensus, choosing instead to interfere in a manner that negatively impacts the resolution of these issues.
What transpired in Shnagha village constitutes a blatant violation of ethical, legal, religious, and professional military standards. The deployment of a heavily armed military force—equipped with thousands of armored vehicles and advanced weaponry—against unarmed Kurdish farmers is an unjustifiable act.
To address the grievances of farmers in these areas and prevent future conflicts, the Iraqi government must fully implement the Constitution, particularly Article 140. Any further delay in this process will only lead to new crises and heightened instability.
