Landmark development set to transform the capital with new tourism and recreational spaces
Construction of Erbil’s “Life Path” project is progressing steadily as senior Kurdistan Regional Government officials continue to monitor work on one of the capital’s largest urban development initiatives.
Minister of Municipalities and Tourism Sasan Awni, accompanied by Omed Sabah, Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, visited the project site to review construction progress alongside Erbil Mayor Nihad Qoja, the engineering team, and project contractors.
During the visit, officials assessed the latest stage of construction and discussed the project’s technical requirements, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high construction standards and ensuring timely completion.
Prime Minister Masrour Barzani laid the foundation stone for the project on November 5, 2025, describing it as one of Erbil’s most significant strategic developments. The Prime Minister has stressed the need for high-quality implementation and pledged continued government support throughout the project.
Widely known as the “Erbil Corniche,” the development will extend for more than 25 kilometres when fully completed. Construction is currently focused on the first phase, with additional phases planned in the coming years.
The project is expected to transform a long-neglected section of the city that previously served as a waste disposal site into a major recreational and tourism destination.
Officials say the development will create new employment opportunities, improve the capital’s urban landscape, and establish one of Erbil’s leading tourism attractions, marking a significant step in the city’s ongoing modernization and economic development.
