Goethe-Institut delegation discusses future artistic cooperation and joint projects
The Directorate General of Culture and Arts in Erbil hosted a delegation from Germany’s Goethe-Institut and the Framing School on Sunday, July 12, 2026, as part of efforts to expand cultural exchange and strengthen artistic cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Germany.
The meeting, held at the directorate’s headquarters in Erbil, focused on developing future cultural projects and creating a framework for closer collaboration between Kurdish and German artists.
The delegation was received by Sirwan Osman, Director General of Culture and Arts in Erbil, along with Salim Qadir, Deputy Director General, and Nawzad Taha, Head of the Relations and Media Department.
The visiting delegation included Mutaz Abdulrahman, Director of the Information and Library Department at the Goethe-Institut; Rozita Rebwar, Director of Cultural Projects at the Goethe-Institut; and Safin Hamid, Director of the Framing School.
During the discussions, both sides exchanged views on Erbil’s cultural development and explored opportunities for joint initiatives that could provide artists with greater access to international experiences, resources, and platforms.
Officials from the Directorate General of Culture and Arts highlighted Erbil’s historic role as a centre of culture and creativity, stressing that the capital will continue to serve as a vibrant cultural hub.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to launch future collaborations, including exhibitions, workshops, and other cultural activities aimed at promoting Kurdish artistic talent and expanding international cultural partnerships.
