The Piramagroon Theater Troupe performed the play “Berd” (Stone) for the second time in Piramagroon, while continuing rehearsals and preparations for upcoming shows.
Omid Kamal, the play’s writer, director, and artist, said that “Berd” was written and directed by him, with Faraidoon Bakr as assistant director. The performance featured actors Givara Jabar, Begerd Hamaslim, and Hawkar Kamal. The production, created in cooperation with the Dukan District Administration and the Raniya Directorate of Culture, tells the story of a person trapped by drug addiction, whose addiction leads to violence against their family.
Born in 1987 in Piramagroon, Omid Kamal completed his early education locally before graduating from the College of Fine Arts at Salahaddin University, specializing in Theatre, Acting, and Directing. He began writing poetry in 2002 and later expanded into plays, stories, and dramas. Since 2003, he has participated in over 40 theatrical productions and authored works including “Qaqa,” “Tazabaw,” “Samara,” and “Koshki Hanar” (Pomegranate Palace).
