Erbil – In a heartfelt ceremony, the Erbil Governorate, in coordination with the Directorate of Culture and Arts, honored renowned sculptor Fuad Ali for his artistic contributions and international recognition. The event, held at the Erbil Schools Activity Hall, paid tribute to the artist whose sculptures have been displayed across Italy and Europe.
Speaking at the ceremony, Fuad Ali expressed his vision for Erbil and the role of art in society. “One of my new works will be placed at one of the gates of Erbil city,” he said. “Erbil has become beautiful and has grown, but it still needs more artistic works and greenery. No nation can succeed if it doesn’t value art.”
Farhang Ghafoor, General Director of Culture and Arts in Erbil, praised Ali’s achievements and lamented the absence of his works in his homeland. “Professor Fuad Ali is one of Kurdistan’s great artistic figures, an international artist whose works are displayed in Florence and other cities around the world,” he noted. “His artistic project has been presented to the governorate and a decision has been made to work on it. These projects require significant budgets, and when the opportunity arises, we hope to bring his dreams for the Kurdistan Region to life.”
Fuad Ali, a Kurdish sculptor based in Italy, is widely recognized for his diverse and valuable works, blending cultural heritage with contemporary vision. His honor in Erbil marks not only recognition of his personal achievements but also a reminder of the importance of supporting art and artists within Kurdistan.
