Erbil volleyball eyes second Iraqi Premier league title

Erbil’s volleyball team is making headlines this season in the Iraqi Premier League, demonstrating strong performance and aiming to secure the championship. After the completion of the eighth round, the team has already won 12 out of 13 matches, signaling a serious challenge to other top clubs and raising hopes among fans for a league title.
The Iraqi Premier League currently features 10 clubs competing at the highest level: Masafi Shimal, Ghazi South, Masafi Nawras, Erbil, Nineveh, Daghara, Peshmerga Sulaimani, Miqdadiya, Ahwar, and Hadisa. The league’s structure involves multiple rallies held across different cities. This season, the first rally took place in Sulaimani, the second in Baghdad, and the third in Najaf. The final rally is set to be hosted in Erbil, where the top four teams will be determined for the prestigious “Golden Square,” a round that decides the ultimate league standings.
Erbil’s squad is a blend of local talent and international expertise. The team features predominantly Kurdish players, complemented by one professional Montenegrin and two Arab athletes. This combination of skill and experience has contributed to the team’s impressive performance so far.

Erbil’s volleyball team has a proud history. They have previously won the Iraqi Premier League once and have represented Iraq twice in the Arab Club Championship, showcasing Kurdish volleyball on a regional stage. This year, with a strong and motivated squad, they are aiming to add a second league title to their achievements, further cementing their reputation as one of Iraq’s leading volleyball clubs.
Fans across the Kurdistan Region are eagerly following the league, and expectations are high as Erbil prepares for the final rally in the city. With consistent victories and a strong team spirit, the club is on track to make this season a historic one.
