Investment in Kurdistan Region surpasses $25 billion

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has surpassed a major milestone in its efforts to diversify the economy, attract investment, and build a more sustainable financial foundation for the Kurdistan Region.
According to investment sector data, 856 projects with a combined value of $25.298 billion have been implemented across various sectors. These investments have contributed to economic growth, strengthened local industries, and created tens of thousands of job opportunities for citizens.
As part of its strategy to reduce dependence on a single source of revenue, the KRG has focused on creating a favorable investment environment and increasing confidence among domestic and international investors. The approved projects cover key sectors including housing, tourism, industry, agriculture, education, healthcare, services, and banking.
The housing sector has received the largest share of investment, with 102 projects valued at more than $8.5 billion. These projects aim to provide modern housing, support urban development, and improve living standards across the Region.
Tourism has also become a major area of investment, with 118 projects worth nearly $7.9 billion. These developments are intended to strengthen the Kurdistan Region’s position as an attractive destination for local and international visitors.
The industrial sector has attracted 205 projects with a total investment value of nearly $5 billion. These projects support domestic production, expand manufacturing capacity, and help reduce reliance on imported goods. Meanwhile, the trade sector recorded the highest number of projects, with 246 projects valued at more than $1.9 billion, contributing to market growth and commercial activity.
Agriculture has also received significant attention as part of efforts to strengthen food security. Thirty strategic agricultural projects, valued at more than $638 million, have been launched to support farmers, increase local production, and promote economic stability.
The KRG has further invested in education and healthcare as essential foundations for long-term development. The education sector includes 73 projects valued at more than $551 million, aimed at expanding educational opportunities and preparing future generations. In healthcare, 47 major projects, including hospitals and medical facilities, have received investments exceeding $451 million.
Other sectors have also benefited from investment initiatives. Nineteen sports projects worth more than $150 million, ten service projects valued at over $105 million, three arts projects worth more than $76 million, and three banking projects valued at over $22 million have contributed to improving infrastructure and quality of life.
The continued expansion of investment across multiple sectors reflects the Kurdistan Region’s efforts to establish a diversified economy, encourage private sector growth, and create new opportunities for its people.
