Kamaran’s Bird Play debuts in Erbil, tours planned

Shwan Karim’s new play Kamaran’s Bird mixes comedy and tragedy, opening in Erbil to strong audiences.

In Erbil, the play Kamaran’s Bird was performed at the hall of the Erbil Fine Arts Institute. The play was prepared and directed by Shwan Karim, with a cast of experienced and talented actors.
Director Shwan Karim said about the production: “Kamaran’s Bird is the name of my newest theatrical project. For three months in Erbil, I and a staff of 20 people have been busy rehearsing. Now we have started performing, and we perform daily at the Fine Arts Institute Hall.”
He added: “The content of the play is completely political. It is about a powerful group and a revolutionary group. I don’t want to reveal the full story—I expect the beautiful audience members to come and see it for themselves. What I can say is that the play is both comedy and tragedy, and it ends as a tragedy.”
The play will continue its run for several days in Erbil, with plans to stage it in Sulaymaniyah, Duhok, and Kirkuk as well.
