Kurdish culture festival celebrated in Sweden

A vibrant festival celebrating Kurdish Culture was recently held in Sweden, attracting artists, poets, musicians, and cultural enthusiasts from around the region. The event featured poetry recitals, musical performances, traditional songs, and presentations highlighting Kurdish folklore, creating a lively and immersive cultural experience for both the Kurdish community and international guests.
Among the highlights, several poets recited excerpts from their own poetry, sharing personal reflections and cultural narratives. Poet Evin Wllat expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I am very happy about organizing this festival. I love my country, which is Kurdistan, and I am thrilled to recite a collection of my Poetry. Several musicians, poets, and singers participated, making the festival more enjoyable and vibrant. National songs and anthems were sung, and a documentary about Kurdish Folklore was also presented. I hope such festivals continue annually to serve our culture.”
Researcher Saydaye Goyan, who also participated in the festival, emphasized the importance of presenting Kurdish Culture to the international audience. “My purpose in participating in this festival in the diaspora was to take part in cultural and folkloric activities and introduce Kurdish Culture and Folklore to foreign guests. Fortunately, it was a very successful festival, and we were able to represent our culture in the best way,” he said.
The festival reflected a growing interest in preserving and sharing Kurdish heritage abroad, combining the arts of Poetry, Music, and visual storytelling to strengthen cultural identity and community pride. Organizers expressed hope that such events will become a recurring tradition, fostering appreciation for Kurdish Culture both locally and internationally.
