Kurdish Daf performance at Dubai Opera House

A major concert featuring the Kurdish Daf was held at the Dubai Opera House, with Kurdish artist Hazhar Zahawi performing alongside a group of internationally renowned musicians. The event highlighted the cultural significance of the Daf and introduced audiences to its unique sound.
Hazhar Zahawi, who represented Kurdistan at the concert, drew significant attention to the instrument and later conducted a two-day specialized workshop at the Arab Oud House in Abu Dhabi. Titled “The Daf Instrument and Its Impact on the Mind,” the workshop explored the psychological and spiritual effects of the Daf, while Zahawi shared his personal experiences with the instrument.
Musicians from Iraq, Spain, Iran, Tunisia, Ukraine, Syria, Egypt, Pakistan, and Lebanon also participated in the concert, performing a series of musical pieces that blended diverse cultural and artistic traditions under the direction of Iraqi artist Naseer Shamma, who is of Kurdish origin.
The concert and workshop reflect ongoing efforts to promote Kurdish musical heritage on the global stage, following similar international performances by the artistic group in other countries.
