A Kurdish father and son duo marks history as nominees for best director and actor at Italy’s festival.

A Kurdish filmmaker proudly announced that his short film Statue has been officially accepted to the Cineci Short Movie Cultural Classic Festival in Naples, Italy.
Speaking to The Kurdish Globe, he said: “What makes us happiest is that my son, Aryas, has been nominated for Best Young Actor, competing with three other actors from Iran, Argentina, and Italy. At the same time, I am competing for Best Director in the international short films category.”
He continued: “It is worth noting that ours is the only Kurdish film participating in the festival, which will be held on November 11–14, 2025, in Naples. We have received a formal invitation and hope to attend. This short film was produced by Kurdistan Dialogue.”
