In a statement shared on X, Nechirvan Barzani expressed his satisfaction in meeting Pezeshkian on his inaugural day, emphasizing Kurdistan Region’s desire to collaborate in enhancing the relations between Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and Iran.
President Pezeshkian’s swearing-in ceremony took place on Tuesday, July 30, attended by numerous international dignitaries.
During their discussions, Nechirvan Barzani reiterated the Kurdistan Region’s view of Iran as a significant neighbor and its commitment to fostering relations between Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and Iran.
Barzani articulated a desire to boost trade with Iran and to facilitate the entry of Iranian tourists into southern Iraq via the Kurdistan Region. He also extended an invitation to Pezeshkian to visit Erbil.
In addition to his meeting with Pezeshkian, Kurdistan Region President met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf during his time in Tehran.

During his meeting with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, the discussions primarily revolved around the intricate relationships between Iran, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region, as well as recent developments affecting these areas and the broader region. Both leaders shared their perspectives on the latest regional events.
Furthermore, they emphasized the necessity of enhancing ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region across various sectors. They acknowledged that collaborative efforts in the region are essential for fostering stability and peace.
