Kurdistan Region Maintaining Balance Amid Regional Turmoil

By Frsat said Shkur

Due to its geopolitical position, the Middle East has been a region full of turmoil and tension. In the past two weeks, a 12-day war erupted between Iran and Israel, which had impacts across the entire region, especially affecting the political, economic, and security situation. Amid these events, what was important and noteworthy was the stance of the Kurdistan Region, which represented a perspective full of peace and maintaining a balance of power within it.

A Calm Area in the Middle East

The Kurdistan Region is known as a “peaceful area in the Middle East,” which is highly respected internationally. International researchers see the Kurdistan Region as “a peaceful refuge in a region full of crises,” which reflects the fact that Kurdistan has never been a source of conflict or a threat to increasing regional instability.
The Kurdistan Region has sought to resolve conflicts through dialogue and agreements. This has been achieved by participating in peace conferences and negotiations. Kurdistan is recognized as a pluralistic and multi-ethnic society where Kurds, Arabs, Turkmens, and other minorities live in harmony. This diversity has helped create a peaceful environment and reduce ethnic violence.
By employing this strategy, the Kurdistan Region has been able to serve as a model of peace and stability in a turbulent and unstable region like the Middle East.
Without going far back in history, President Barzani has always believed in a policy of peace and coexistence. While the Kurdistan Region has had authority and a strong military force, President Barzani’s mindset has always been focused on calmness and peace. This was especially evident during the difficult phase of security challenges and the war between Israel and Iran. Barzani’s careful political approach and understanding protected the Kurdistan Region from threats, ensuring that the region did not become a battleground or a place for escalating conflicts.
“The Kurdistan Region, by establishing strong relations with both international communities and regional actors, has been able to play an important security role in the Middle East.”
The Kurdistan Region, as a geographically and politically significant area in the Middle East, plays a fundamental and effective role in stabilizing and balancing forces in this troubled and conflict-ridden region. The political, economic, social, and cultural resilience of Kurdistan has been a key factor in maintaining peace and stability in the area.
