The Kurdistan Regional Government’s strategic highway linking Etit to Ba’adre in Duhok Governorate has reached three-quarters completion, officials report, with work progressing 30% faster than planned.
The 26-kilometer roadway, a key infrastructure priority for the KRG’s Ninth Cabinet, will connect Duhok’s entrance to Ba’adre sub-district through three construction phases. The first phase is nearing completion, while work continues at an accelerated pace on the remaining sections.
Funded at 135 billion Iraqi dinars, the project features 10 overpasses and underpasses built to international standards, designed to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in the region.
Officials say the highway will serve as a vital transportation corridor, supporting both daily commuters and the area’s commercial development as part of broader efforts to strengthen the region’s economic infrastructure.
