Medical conference in Erbil focuses on local healthcare

The Mesopotamia Medical Conference convened on October 31, 2024, in Erbil, attended by President Barzani and Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. Held at Saad Abdullah Hall, the conference brought together medical professionals from both the diaspora and across the region.

Opening the conference, Dr. Basak Barzanji, President of the Conference and Head of the Medical Syndicate, acknowledged the support of President Barzani and Prime Minister Barzani, emphasizing that their encouragement fuels the aspirations of the region’s healthcare professionals. “We thank Masrour Barzani, who has always supported this conference,” Dr. Barzanji stated, noting the significance of the event.

In his remarks, President Barzani stressed the vital role of healthcare for society, expressing hopes for a future where Kurdistan’s cities are equipped to handle all medical needs locally. “If our doctors are provided with the necessary advanced tools and equipment, our people won’t need to go abroad for treatment,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of strengthening local medical infrastructure.
