Yousef Amin, a talented Kurdish footballer, has quickly risen through the ranks to make his mark on the international stage. Born in Germany in 2003 to parents from Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, Amin currently plays as a winger for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Wehda Club and represents Iraq in international competitions.
Amin’s professional career began with Viktoria Köln, where he made history in March 2021 as the club’s youngest-ever professional player during a match against Duisburg. In September 2022, he joined the under-21 squad of Dutch club Feyenoord, further honing his skills.
Initially, Amin represented Germany in youth football. Although Iraq’s youth team sought his inclusion twice—in 2020 and 2021—he opted to stay with Germany. However, by March 2023, Amin announced his decision to represent Iraq, setting his sights on the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Following FIFA’s approval of his nationality switch, he participated in key preparation matches against the Dominican Republic and Brazil.
During the U-20 World Cup, Amin showcased his potential, playing in all three of Iraq’s matches. Despite the team’s early exit and lack of goals, his performances hinted at a bright future. His senior international debut on November 16, 2023, was nothing short of spectacular—scoring a goal in Iraq’s commanding 5-0 victory over Indonesia at the Palm Trunk Stadium.
Yousef Amin’s journey from Germany to international football stardom highlights his determination and talent, cementing his status as a promising figure in Kurdish and Iraqi football.
