Zarey secures victory in Brave CF 37 debut

Kurdish-Norwegian Fighter Mohamad Zarey secures debut win at BRAVE CF 37 with first-round submission

Mohamad Zarey, known as “The Kurdish Gorilla,” made an impressive debut in the BRAVE Combat Federation on August 1, 2020, at BRAVE CF 37 in Stockholm. Co-organized with the Swedish Promotion Bulldog Fight Night, the event showcased Zarey’s skills in a welterweight bout against French fighter Ahouzi Kouame.

In the evening’s opening match, Zarey quickly established his dominance, submitting Kouame with a heel hook in the first round. The fight was officiated by referee Declan Larkin, and both fighters were making their professional MMA and BRAVE CF debuts. With this victory, Zarey boasts a 1-0 record, while Kouame begins his career at 0-1.

Zarey’s success has earned him notable rankings in the regional MMA scene, currently sitting at #77 in the Middle East and Africa and holding a position within the Middle East sub-region. He is also ranked #340 in Europe, reflecting his performances in various competitions, as these rankings consider only regions where he has fought at least twice in his last six bouts. Additionally, Zarey competes in both the Middleweight and Light Heavyweight divisions, showcasing his versatility as an athlete.
