A cultural initiative celebrating the traditional costumes of the Kurdistan Region’s diverse communities was held in Duhok for the first time, highlighting the Region’s heritage and culture of peaceful coexistence.
The event brought together 70 girls and boys representing different ethnic and religious communities, presenting a vibrant display of traditional attire that drew praise from cultural figures and folklore enthusiasts.
The costumes were designed by Nazik Omar, a young designer from Duhok who returned from Switzerland to oversee the project. Through her designs, she sought to convey a message of peace, unity, and cultural beauty.
Organizers said the exhibition aimed to preserve the heritage of the Region’s diverse communities while showcasing the Kurdistan Region’s stability and coexistence through the universal language of art and traditional fashion.
