Duhok to Host Inaugural Gulf Club Super Cup in August

The Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF) has announced the launch of the 2026 Gulf Club Super Cup, introducing a new fixture to the regional football calendar. Iraqi side Duhok SC will face Qatar’s Al-Rayyan SC on August 13 at Duhok Stadium.
The match brings together Duhok SC, champions of the tournament’s first edition, and Al-Rayyan SC, winners of the second round. The fixture is designed as a one-off showdown aimed at strengthening regional club competition and increasing the profile of Gulf football.
Duhok, a city in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, has been selected as the host venue, marking a significant sporting occasion for the region. Officials say the match highlights the growing role of Kurdistan Region clubs and stadiums in hosting major international fixtures.
AGCFF Secretary-General Jassim Sultan Al-Rumaihi praised Duhok’s preparations, noting that organizational and logistical arrangements have been completed to a high standard. Local authorities have coordinated with the club to ensure stadium readiness, security planning, and smooth event operations.
Duhok Stadium is expected to see a strong turnout of supporters, reflecting the club’s large fan base and the region’s deep football culture. The event is also viewed as an opportunity to demonstrate the Kurdistan Region’s capacity to host international sporting events successfully.
For Duhok SC, the fixture represents a major milestone, offering the chance to compete at home in a high-profile international match. It also provides an opportunity to showcase the club’s infrastructure, organization, and passionate supporters to a wider Gulf audience.
