Garmian hosts First Women’s Conference showcasing art and talent

For the first time, Garmian’s women stepped into the spotlight together—artists, poets, and cultural figures—transforming the venue into a festival of female talent.
Under the supervision of Hama Hama Saeed, Minister of Culture and Youth of the Kurdistan Regional Government, and with the patronage of Jalal Sheikh Nouri, Administrator of the Garmian Administration, the General Directorate of Culture and Arts of Garmian organized the first Women’s Conference of Garmian under the slogan “Women of Garmian are Pioneers.”
The conference took place in the cultural hall of the General Directorate of Culture and Arts of Garmian, with the presence of a large number of women, intellectuals, artists, and officials from various administrative units in the region. The event opened with a joint art exhibition featuring the works of 31 female artists.
In his opening remarks, Adel Hussein Qader, General Director of the General Directorate of Culture and Arts of Garmian, conveyed greetings and respect on behalf of the Minister of Culture and Youth to the attendees and praised the female artists and sculptors of Garmian. He reaffirmed the ministry’s ongoing support for the cultural and artistic activities of the region.
Alongside the exhibition, the program included a poetry reading session featuring two female poets, Henar Mufti and Rezan Qasab. A panel discussion was also held on the role of women in art and the importance of women’s financial independence, with contributions from Gulale Hamid and Haifa Majid. The Ahura music group later performed a series of artistic pieces, adding a vibrant musical dimension to the event.
The conference concluded with the presentation of appreciation awards to the participants, as well as five women’s private organizations, honoring their contributions to art, culture, and community development.
