KDP hosts high-level Chinese delegation in Erbil

The Kurdistan Democratic Party’s (KDP) Culture and Media Department, in coordination with the Foreign Relations Office, hosted a high-level roundtable with a Chinese delegation led by Consul General Liu Jun, last Wednesday.
The event brought together senior KDP officials, academics, writers, intellectuals, and journalists to discuss China’s policy in the Middle East and opportunities for cooperation with the Kurdistan Region.
Participants highlighted the importance of strengthening diplomatic, economic, cultural, and scientific ties. KDP officials stressed that the region’s stability offers favorable conditions for Chinese companies to contribute to infrastructure development and reconstruction projects.
During the meeting, Chinese Consul General Liu Jun emphasized the need for peace and mutual respect among nations. He said cultural differences should promote cooperation rather than conflict and noted growing interest in the Chinese language and technology in the Kurdistan Region.
Liu also praised Kurdish culture and said Chinese society is familiar with the Kurdish literary classic Mem u Zin. He expressed admiration for Kurdish cuisine and traditions and reaffirmed China’s commitment to expanding cooperation and partnership with the Kurdistan Region.
The meeting concluded with an open discussion between the Chinese delegation, attendees, and journalists on the future of bilateral relations and China’s role in the region.
