“Green dream” play raises awareness about the environment

The play “Green Dream,” written and directed by Soran Hussaini, was performed on the shores of Lake Zrebar in Marivan, Eastern Kurdistan, attracting nearly 30,000 spectators over two days.
Featuring 16 actors, the performance used physical theatre, body movement, music, and visual imagery to explore the relationship between people and nature and emphasize the importance of protecting the environment and the Zagros Mountains.
Hussaini said the performance was designed to raise public awareness of environmental threats through art. He explained that choosing Lake Zrebar as the setting was closely connected to the play’s message, as the lake and its surrounding landscape are an important part of the region’s environmental and cultural identity.
“Green Dream” is an independent production of the Zed International Theater Group of Marivan. The performance aims to promote environmental protection, encourage respect for the Zagros, and strengthen social responsibility through artistic expression.
Hussaini also described the play as a tribute to individuals and organizations working to protect the environment, particularly the Green Mountain Council. Through its wordless language of physical theatre, the performance seeks to make art a bridge between people, nature, and their shared responsibility to protect it.
The cast included Arina Zerari, Kania Zadsar, Sanaz Yousefi, Waran Mokhtari, Mezhoo Mohammadi, Siavash Ziayi, Amanj Molani, Lia Mihanparast, Parham Shirmohammadi, Hawnaz Badsar, Parham Qadiri, Ayla Zabihi, Karina Mas’ad, Marjan Rahmani, Parya Amani, and Shahab Sharifi. The musical score was prepared by Hêmin Ansari and Mohammad Rojkhosh.
