“The Pen and the State: Ehmedê Xanî’s project for Kurdish Statehood

By Khadija Askandir

Ahmadi Khani (1650-1707 AD) was a great Kurdish poet, writer, intellectual and philosopher. one of the most famous classical poets of the Kurdish nation and the pinnacle of Kurdish poetry.
Ahmad son of Elias son of Rostam. He was born in 1650 AD. He received his poetic title from the Khani tribe.
He died in 1707 in his birthplace, Bayazid, and was buried there.
Khani knew from the beginning that Kurdish writing had few readers and that the books he wrote in Kurdish could not reach a large number of readers, for two reasons:
* On the one hand, the society in which Ahmadi Khan lived was mostly illiterate.
* On the other hand, the language of writing and reading at that time was mostly Arabic and Persian. Middle Eastern writers, including Kurdish writers, wrote books in these languages.
Ahmadi Khani paid great attention to the Kurdish language as a stance against the authorities and as a criticism of the Kurds themselves, because he believed that they would quickly surrender to foreign nobles and rulers.
If we had an agreement ( Vekra bkra ma inqiyadek) Romans, Arabs and Gentiles all They all ran away from us as slaves It complemented our religion and state
He taught us knowledge and wisdom.

His Works:
– Doctrine of Faith:
Written with sermons and poems about the five pillars of faith in Islam. Published in 2000 in Sweden.it is small book of Islamic beliefs, several scientific lessons (theology).

– Little Springs:
Written in 1683, it is an Arabic-Kurdish dictionary in poetry for Kurdish children to learn Arabic, which was the language of religion and science at that time. It was first published in 1926 in Ruandz.

– Mam and Zin:
Written in 1692, but first published in Istanbul in 1919, the result of the unsuccessful and painful death of Mam and Zin became a story and was sung with support. Mam and Zin is the work of his 35th birthday, because he began writing it at the age of fifteen or sixteen. Mam and zeen is a psychological and sociological exploration of the Kurdish region, individual and society, which was under the Ottoman and Safavid divisions. He offers several principles to get rid of this occupation, fragmentation, selfishness and collapse of morality and values of Kurdish society at that time. Khani tells us many things through Mam and Zin.

The following factors to establish a Kurdish state:
1. Military force, a strong army equipped with modern weapons. Historically, it tells how the Russian army became the leader of the world. He talks about the importance of force at that time, because the political language of that time was the language of force, the existence of that force to protect the country from the threat of attack and occupation by other countries.

2. unity is an appropriate way for all nations, communities, groups to find the right path of power and coexistence, especially for those who have a constructive goal to achieve their legitimate cause. Khani means that there should not be a group of emirs, emirates, tribes, clans, families and parties with their own power and leadership, but they should all have the same discourse under the name of one nation to establish a state.

3. religion, (all religions) come to serve humanity.
he wants religion to be used to serve the state to build society and create individuals. That is, individuals should not be servants of religion, but religion should serve individuals.

4. knowledge
Knowledge is more important than anything else, because only with these two things can we achieve intelligence. Without knowledge, life and the universe would be filled with ignorance and everything would be meaningless. One of the factors he emphasized in his project for the establishment of the Kurdish state he encouraged individuals to educate themselves and know what was happening in the world around them.

5. heroic leader, the leader is the person who directs people towards common goals and takes goals and builds bridges between individuals their management.
