Duhok reaches Gulf Cup semi-finals for first time

Duhok Club has become the first Iraqi team to reach the semi-finals of the Arab Gulf Cup after securing a decisive victory against Yemen’s Al-Ahli Sana’a in an away match.

On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, in the Arab Gulf Clubs Championship, Duhok faced Al-Ahli Sana’a in Doha, Qatar. The Eagles of Badinian took an early lead in the first half with a goal from Bayar Abubakr. In the second half, Duhok dominated the match, sealing their victory with two more goals from Peter Georgis and Yannick Zakri, securing their spot in the semi-finals.

With this win, Duhok Club finished second in their group with eight points, advancing alongside UAE’s Al-Nasr. This historic achievement marks a milestone for Iraqi football on the regional stage.
