Kurdish Champion Named Best Player in Thailand

Kurdish athlete Hekar Gerdi has triumphed in an international Muay Thai competition held in Thailand, earning both the championship title and the award for Best Player.
Gerdi, a 27-year-old fighter from Erbil, has been dedicated to combat sports—including Muay Thai, kickboxing, boxing, and mixed martial arts—for over 15 years. Widely recognized across Kurdistan and Iraq, he has claimed numerous championship belts and trophies throughout his career.
Representing Kurdistan on the international stage for the first time, Hekar competed in the Muay Thai championship in Phuket, Thailand, where he faced a strong opponent from Germany. With powerful and strategic strikes, he secured a decisive victory and took home the championship belt.
