Kurdish striker scores first goal of the season in Sweden

Helin Shwan Smko Faraj, a 20-year-old Kurdish footballer based in Sweden, made headlines after scoring her first goal of the 2025 season in the Swedish third division women’s league.
Playing for RIK Karlskoga’s second team in the Värmland region, Faraj helped lead her side to a 3-0 victory over Hertzöga BK 3 during their second-week fixture at Kilsta IP 2 Stadium in Karlskoga. The win also marked RIK Karlskoga’s first three points of the season.
Wearing jersey number 11 and starting as a forward, Faraj scored in the 31st minute of the first half, opening the scoring for her team and contributing significantly to their strong performance. Her goal set the tone for a confident and well-executed win.
Faraj’s achievement not only showcases her talent but also highlights the growing presence and success of Kurdish athletes on international sports stages.
