Foreign demand grows for Kurdish women’s clothing

Behzad Ali, owner of a Kurdish clothing and fabric shop, highlights notable changes in Kurdish women’s fashion, with growing interest from foreign buyers.
Speaking to Kurdish Globe, Ali explained that the style of Kurdish women’s clothing has evolved significantly. “A large number of high-quality fabrics, often expensive and sourced from places like Kashmir and India, are now available in Kurdistan,” he said. “Some are purchased by wealthy customers, while university students often buy them for graduation ceremonies.”
Ali also noted the increasing popularity of Kurdish clothing among foreign visitors. “Many foreign girls who come to Kurdistan buy fabrics and have them tailored into Kurdish dresses because they find the style beautiful,” he said. “Dozens of pieces are sold daily, leading to the rise of specialized tailors in the women’s clothing sector.”
