ERBIL — Erbil FC secured a vital 2–1 victory over Al-Quwajawiya in the 36th round of the Iraqi Stars League, boosting their standing and morale late in the season.
The match featured a strong Kurdish presence, with eight Kurdish players in Erbil’s starting lineup. The win brings Erbil’s total to 47 points, placing them 12th in the league table, while Al-Quwajawiya remains in fifth position with 57 points.
Following the match, Erbil captain Niaz Mohammed expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance.
“It was a great game,” he said. “I congratulate the coaching staff, players, and all the fans of Erbil on this victory. It was very important for us because the team was not in a good situation, but with everyone’s efforts and by following the coach’s plans, we achieved our goal. We have done our duty.
