Salma monodrama wins international award in Tunisia

The monodrama Salma, which portrays the Anfal crimes and the chemical attack on Halabja, has won the Jury Committee Award at the Carthage International Monodrama Festival in Tunisia. The production is staged by the Hawar Theater Group in Kirkuk and was presented in two formats an outdoor street performance and an indoor hall show.
The first staging of Salma took place on 28 April 2024 at Corniche Square Saqala. The second performance was held on 1 May 2024 at the Napoli Cultural House Hall in Tunisia.
The work was written by Dr Dilshad Mustafa, directed by Nejad Najm, and performed by Hawar Faris and Ogily Amplegat.
The Hawar Theater Group previously earned first place for Salma at the ninth Sharm El Sheikh Theatre Festival in Egypt, where the production competed among entries from 30 countries.
