With the attendance of the Minister of Municipalities, the Governor of Erbil, party and government officials of the city of Erbil, and a notable number of academics, writers, and intellectuals, the First Kurdish Book Fair was opened in Erbil.
The main goal of this exhibition is to restore confidence in the Kurdish writer and the Kurdish book, and to serve as a platform for re-valuing local thought and subjects and for reconciling the reader with the Kurdish pen.
The First Kurdish Book Exhibition is an important and strategic step, as it is the first time an experience and activity of this kind has been implemented on such a large scale in the Kurdistan Region.
The exhibition was held with the participation of more than 100 Kurdish printing and publishing institutions and centres from the Kurdistan Region and abroad, during which thousands of titles across intellectual, literary, historical, social, and scientific fields were put on display.
During the exhibition, several intellectual, literary, artistic, and cultural segments and activities, such as meetings, panels, and workshops, are being held.
