The Kurdistan Region is between two different directions Towards Baghdad

By Tahseen Wsu Abdullah

The Kurdistan Region is officially recognized as a legal and political entity under the 2005 Iraqi Constitution, but what has further strengthened its position is the situation in the Kurdistan Region before the fall of the Ba’ath regime by US-led coalition forces in the spring of 2003. In other words, the Kurdistan Region as a legal and constitutional entity has derived its strength and will from the struggle of an oppressed nation for many years the question of the dissolution or disappearance of the region is not an easy one.
It is normal for the Kurdistan Region to be weak against Baghdad at times, but this does not mean that this weakness means its end or dissolution, because the nature of the state, political entity, region or any other unit is such that it does not always have to be the same
After 2003, the conflict between the Kurdistan Region and the Iraqi Federal Government has divided the political parties in the region into two directions. One direction is that the will of the Kurdistan Region should not be handed over to Baghdad Baghdad is working through various mechanisms to force the Kurdistan Region to surrender, but contrary to the wishes of the authorities and the ruling elite in Baghdad, this direction has not come under the control of the federal government Kurdistan has become an official entity at the regional and international levels.
The second direction, contrary to the first direction, believes that any decision issued by Baghdad should be implemented directly on the region without returning to the constitutional and de facto characteristics. They have completely surrendered to the will of the ruling elite in Iraq, so that they have become backward to Baghdad and always justify everything that Baghdad does to the Kurdistan Region because they have determined their will for Baghdad Kurdistan is a recognized entity, but this direction does not see itself as the protector or owner of the Kurdistan Region in the face of the oppression that Baghdad has committed against the people and the entity of the Kurdistan Region.
Here, the Kurdistan Region is between these two directions. The second direction is not regarded as the official side by the Baghdad government, despite all the humiliation and crusade they do daily, but the first direction is treated as the official side The structure of the Kurdistan Region, not those who have surrendered in exchange for some achievements and personal interests in such a way that they are no longer counted by those who intercede for them, so they are completely removed from all moral and national values.
Therefore, these parties should not be allowed to present themselves as the official representatives of the people and the institution of the Kurdistan Region because they have no ability and will to survive that reflects a different characteristic as established in the Iraqi Constitution and the reality of the Kurdistan Region.
