The short film The Tailor, produced by the Cinema and Theatre Department of the College of Fine Arts at Salahaddin University-Erbil, has won the Best Actress Award at the Kurdish Short Film Festival (KSFF).
Directed by Barzan Younis, the film was developed as a practical academic project within the university’s Cinema and Theatre Department, marking a notable achievement for the institution.
At the festival, actress Reza Muhammad received the Best Actress Award for her performance in the film, highlighting the artistic strength of the production.
The success of The Tailor reflects the growing capacity of both students and academic staff at Salahaddin University in producing work that competes at a professional level in artistic festivals.
The Kurdish Short Film Festival (KSFF), held in Sulaymaniyah at the City Cinema centre, is regarded as one of the key platforms for Kurdish short cinema.
The participation of The Tailor in the official selection, and its subsequent award, underscores the ability of academic film productions to establish a strong presence within the wider Kurdish cinema industry.
