President Masoud Barzani’s message marking the 80th anniversary of the KDP
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
On the occasion of August 16 and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), I extend my warmest congratulations to the proud families of the martyrs, the heroic Peshmerga, all members and supporters of the Party, and all the people of Kurdistan.
The Party was founded during a difficult and challenging period with the aim of restoring hope and strength to the people of Kurdistan. Throughout its long history of struggle, the Party has served as a school for the activists and revolutionaries of Kurdistan and, at every stage, has remained a steadfast defender of the legitimate rights of the people of Kurdistan.
The Party has been, is, and will remain an instrument for serving the people and advancing our national and patriotic goals and values.
The Party firmly believes in coexistence, fraternity, and harmony among all national and religious communities, as well as among all political parties in Kurdistan and Iraq. It also considers the principles of partnership and respect for the Constitution essential guarantees of stability, peace, and prosperity throughout Iraq.
On the anniversary of August 16, my message to all members and supporters of the Party is clear: the KDP is a source of strength for the people of Kurdistan, and its foremost responsibility is to serve them. With trust in Almighty God, and with your determination and resolve, together with the will and determination of all the people of Kurdistan, no obstacle or challenge can stand in the way of fulfilling this sacred duty.
On this occasion, we honor the memory of all the martyrs, Peshmerga, activists, and heroes who made sacrifices throughout the Party’s long struggle. I also express my appreciation for the role of the Party’s cadres, members, and devoted supporters, who have stood loyally and tirelessly by their Party under all circumstances and have written a history of pride and honor for their people.
