The film “Blood Tryst” (Zhwani Xwen), directed by Adnan Rojbayani, was screened at the Royal Cinema in Erbil’s Cultural Citadel.
Director Adnan Rojbayani said he directed the film, while Saleh Bekas wrote the screenplay and also acted in it. Hersh Jalil was responsible for editing and production, and Gulala Bilafa designed the costumes. Several well-known Kurdish actors also took part in the film.
The film tells the story of two devoted lovers living in a village in Kurdistan. After their relationship and secret meetings are discovered by relatives and local people, they face oppression, threats, and numerous obstacles.
According to Rojbayani, the young man is forced to watch his beloved suffer physical and psychological abuse. As threats against the couple increase, they eventually leave their village and homeland and flee to a remote place to protect their lives.
Twenty-five years later, the man returns with the hope of seeing his beloved again. He discovers that she never married and spent her entire life waiting for him. Although they have both grown old, the two lovers are reunited and embrace each other with joy.
However, their reunion does not last long. Fate separates them once again, and their love story ends with their deaths. Through their final moments, the film delivers a message that although oppression and tyranny separated them in this world, their love will unite them forever in another world.
