KRG projects revitalize Kurdistan’s villages

Prime Minister Barzani and the KRG are increasing services in rural areas, initiating service projects aimed at reversing urban migration and revitalizing village life

The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) stated that the government’s program aims not only to focus on major city centers and provinces but also to extend service projects to all villages and towns.

Only in one day, the foundation stone for 21 service projects related to road paving, bridges, water, and sewerage has been laid in Mergasur district, as well as in Qushtapa, Pirmam, Koya, and areas outside Erbil’s center.

Idris Ismail, a member of the fifth term of the Kurdistan Parliament, told The Kurdish Globe: “These projects will provide significant services and facilities to the citizens of the region’s villages and towns. The government’s program has been designed not only to focus on the centers of major cities and provinces but also to extend service projects to all villages and towns. This ensures that all citizens of Kurdistan can benefit from public services.”

He added: “This step by the government cabinet has made people very happy because it addresses the phenomenon of migration from villages to cities and focuses more attention on the outskirts of cities, making more people feel the availability of services.”

The Barzan area is one of the important regions considered part of Erbil province. Regarding Barzan, Prime Minister Barzani stated: “Barzan is a strategic region and has been a central stronghold for the revolutions and uprisings of Kurdistan. Over the past 120 years, this area has led the Kurdish liberation movement and has brought significant achievements to the people of Kurdistan. Therefore, the enemies of Kurdistan have always opposed Barzan and its people, because the people of this region have never bowed to their enemies.”

“As a result of the fighting, the villages of the region have been burned and destroyed several times, but the people of this region have always returned to their areas with faith in God and rebuilt the region,” Barzani said. “Those who dreamed of destroying Barzan or the Kurdistan Revolution are now in the grave. Therefore, with God’s support, Kurdistan and Barzan will always be proud and protected, and we will continue our programs to rebuild all Kurdish villages.”

He stressed that another goal of the government is to improve the economic situation and create job opportunities for rural residents through small and medium-sized projects, such as the construction of necessary factories in these regions, which will increase people’s income.

In addition to serving these districts and villages, according to statistics, a good number of people from the cities are returning to their areas, and their lives will continue, especially in the villages. Because of these service projects, livestock and agriculture have been given great importance, and this is one of the achievements of the ninth cabinet.
