Kurdish playwright to feature at international festival

Fazil Jaf, a distinguished Kurdish actor, will lead a workshop at the prestigious International Festival of Carthage in Tunisia, set to run from November 23 to 30. Known for its influential role in the region’s cultural landscape, the festival’s 25th edition will bring together an array of theater professionals from around the world for a series of workshops, performances, and collaborative events.

Among the highlights of this year’s program is Jaf’s training session, titled “Movement and Body within the Elements of Theater.” In this workshop, participants will explore the connection between physicality and performance, a hallmark of Jaf’s acclaimed approach to acting.

The festival’s diverse lineup also includes a variety of other workshops aimed at nurturing artistic development. These include “Actor and His Companion,” led by theater director Fazil Al-Jaabi; “Music and Body,” conducted by artist Karim Al-Talibi; and “Playwriting: How to Write War,” a workshop by playwright Mohamed Al-Qasmi.

With its rich blend of international and regional talent, the International Festival of Carthage continues to be a vital platform for the exchange of ideas and creative practices in the world of theater.
