High Demand for Wild Spring Plants in Kurdistan
Wild spring plants such as Kardi, Kangir (thistle), and Tolaka are among the most sought-after natural foods in Kurdistan during the spring season. Rich in nutrients, these plants are valued for their health benefits and are either gathered directly from the mountains or sold in local markets.
Despite lower rainfall in many cities across Kurdistan this year, the mountainous areas received sufficient precipitation, resulting in a strong harvest of wild plants.
Some of the most popular edible varieties include Tolaka, Kangir, Kardi, Gilagha, and Gabla, as well as seasonal favorites like Rewas (rhubarb) and Tishkoka.
