Kurdistan Region completes 172 road projects in 2025 to boost connectivity

Erbil — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) made substantial strides in developing the region’s road network during 2025, completing 172 projects with a total investment of IQD 92.463 billion. These projects included both the construction of new roads and the rehabilitation and asphalting of existing routes across all governorates and self-administration districts.
Funding was secured through the investment budget, the regular budget, and revenues from weighing stations. The distribution of completed projects by governorate and district is as follows: Slemani 61, Erbil 41, Duhok 21, Soran 14, Garmian 12, Raparin 11, Halabja 7, and Zakho 5.
Several major strategic routes remain under development, with completion scheduled for 2026. These projects are expected to further enhance mobility and connectivity across the Kurdistan Region.
The KRG emphasized that expanding and modernizing road infrastructure remains a key priority, reflecting its ongoing commitment to improving services and connecting communities throughout the region.
