Time is not in the region’s best interest

By Salam Abdullah

Although there are various efforts to revitalize the parliament and form a government, but in practice nothing concrete is seen on the horizon, so far, while the United States and its allies have openly told the region this fact They plan to leave the region in September and later this year, while neither the government nor the parliament has taken office.
Rumors suggest that the process may begin in more or less three weeks, which may not be the case, because neither the media has fallen into the growing fire of disunity and despair On the contrary, the campaign is getting hotter day by day, unfortunately.
The US withdrawal from the region will leave a huge security gap, especially in the conflict zones, which will provide a favorable environment for ISIS, terrorist groups and enemies of the region to operate Revive and develop it and create problems for the region.
In terms of protecting the region, the threats to the region will increase, especially since the airspace of the region is still actively protected by the United States and the damage to the region to some extent, although the attacks on the region were many They had no effect, but the disappearance of these powerful forces in the region will change the balance of power in the region and create concern.
Obviously, this will affect the economic situation in the region and the investment process and creates a risk for large companies to deal with the region with concern.
It is unlikely that the Iraqi government will increase its pressure on the Kurdistan Region and increase the level of demands from the region, because it is now clearly felt that many different parties and authorities in Baghdad have moved towards a strong central government They set up, advocate for it and create the conditions for it.
Therefore, now more than ever, the authorities in Baghdad, the absence of the parliament and the establishment of the Kurdistan Regional Government after 20 months, as an opportunity to make some decisions against the interests of the region, whether through the parliament or not They want to sue the federal court and harm the region and its victims on the grounds that there is a legitimate power vacuum in the region.
Therefore, delaying the reactivation of the parliament and government is a great task and a historical necessity to intervene in the meetings, especially between the two main forces of the Kurdistan Region and not waste the struggle of a century of sacrifice and blood.
