KRG advances education with digital and infrastructure upgrades in 2025

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) continued its commitment to education in 2025, implementing a series of strategic initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, advancing technology, and reintegrating students into the education system.
During the year, 154,660 new students were enrolled across the Kurdistan Region, bringing the total number of students to 1,827,572 in 7,585 schools. In addition, a national campaign successfully returned 8,836 students to classrooms, raising the total number of students reintegrated during the Ninth Cabinet’s tenure to 42,107. These efforts reflect the KRG’s focus on ensuring access to education for all children and strengthening the overall student population.
To enhance learning outcomes and raise academic standards, the KRG launched five major digital initiatives, including the e-Halsangandn assessment application, the Digital Schools Initiative, a certificate translation digitisation system, the Qutabxanakam (My School) platform, and the Barawrdkari platform for evaluating academic performance. These tools are designed to modernize the education system and facilitate better monitoring of student progress.
In terms of infrastructure, the KRG completed the construction of 30 new school buildings and laid foundations for an additional 30 schools. Forty-three schools across various cities and towns also underwent comprehensive renovations, ensuring safer and more effective learning environments for students.
Innovation and environmental sustainability were also key priorities. Two hundred smart boards were distributed to schools across governorates and self-administration districts, integrating technology directly into classrooms. In addition, 32 schools were equipped with solar energy systems, providing reliable electricity while promoting clean energy solutions.
Through these initiatives, the KRG has reinforced the education sector as a cornerstone of societal development, providing a supportive, inclusive, and forward-looking environment for all students in the Kurdistan Region.
